At Wanted Design 2025, Samuel Aguirre presented a collection of six, one of a kind, table lamps. For the past two years, Samuel's relationship with ancient paper making materials and techniques has served as a point of departure to explore novel techniques for structure, mark making and surface treatment.
For this work, natural fibers were formed into a familiar lamp assembly and allowed to slowly air dry while settling into a unique, gestural shape. Once cured, each lamp is treated as a medium to explore a plethora of experimental finishes utilizing premium handmade papers, experimental textures, true milk paints, and metal leaf. The process is rooted in ancient paper making materials and techniques. Each lamp is made by hand with natural materials, is 1of1 and archival.
